In need of a design tweaking

This app looks like it may have a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the Comic Sans-like font made my initial exploration an uncomfortable one. I realize this probably sounds picky, but it actually made me exit the app when I came to a problem, instead of letting my curiosity lead towards a solution. In my opinion, the MealBoard app is an example of a more restful on the eyes (and practical) layout of meal planning.

Wonderful app

This is the best application of its kind. Destined to become even better with more customer reviews and tweaking. TRY IT!!

Great app

I love this app! The only problem with it I have is that I would like the macronutrient pie chart (carbs, protein, and fat) to be available for the meal as a whole not just for the ingredients.

Good app. Will be even better with some tweaks.

This is quite a helpful app. I was surprised at the number of foods that are available, for which nutritional data is provided. Some features I would like to see added are the option to enter nutritional data for your own custom foods, and to have the app actually calculate all the nutritional data for the entire meal & day, not just for single recipes. Also, I would like to be able to type in a keyword search, and search by category in the recipe search scroll area for individual meals Fatter text font and some colors that are easier on the eyes than white would be nice, but they arent a big problem. It would be very cool to be able to take photos of dishes, and have them appear beside the recipe names when youre scrolling around looking for what to cook on a given day.

Too many issues.

In theory this app sounds great but it just has too many bugs. When adding recipes stuff disappears then reappears in the next recipe you create. It crashed several times. Searching for an ingredient was too long and results not refined enough. Just not worth the money. Should be free until they fix the bugs.

I like it

I like the app and use it to plan my week. I wish I could upload recipes or be able to upload a picture from my recipe book. Better still to upload from a website. I have the same crashing problem as the other reviewers.

Needs work

Why do you crash every time I search for salsa? I love the set up and the concept of the app. It just needs improvements to make it functional. I should have checked first but there have been any new versions for a long timeā€¦

Not worth it

Dont waste your money, it wont save any custom ingredients. Initially everything seems fine then you go to add another recipe and when you add a custom ingredient for it, your previous custom ingredients vanish along with the nutritional info you entered. The custom ingredients and their values even disappear from the recipes they were in, and the nutritional content drops accordingly. Until that bug is fixed this isnt worth the money.

This app is my life!!!

I use meal builder religiously every week to plan my meals and help me build a grocery list. Couldnt live without it.

Already Hate it!

Im trying to create a simple recipe for overnight oats. There are 5 ingredients. One wasnt available in the database. Another was available but not in the measurements I needed (e.g. grams instead of tsp). Then I started searching for items I regularly use in baking. Of the next 3 ingredients I searched, only one (eggs) was available. I knew it would take time to set it up, but I wasnt expecting to have to look up so many ingredients elsewhere before adding them to this app myself. Save your money. Just use a pencil and paper.

Needs improvements

Database for food/ingredients is....useless. Ive added a ton of my own ingredients. I sorted all my recipes by mealtimes but when I go to plan meals its all alphabetical - a pain. Id like to see the recipe when I plan meals. It shows nutrition info. I dont care what the nutritional info is or at least give a choice. My iPad keeps telling the app has not been updated so it will run slow - it does & crashes sometimes. This is a red flag. Otherwise this is a great app. If the changes were made this would be a amazing app

Lacking

There are no recipes provided in the app. Everything must be provided by the user. It would be more useful if we could search a database with recipes while having the option to add our own if need be.

I want my money back

I thought I was buying a meal planning app. It doesnt come with any recipes. You have to add all of your own data, ingredients and all. This doesnt do anything that I dont already do, it just asks that I also take the time to input it into my iPhone. Complete ripoff.

Bad reviews were right!

The apps graphics looked good, so I bought it in spite of bad reviews... and regret my purchase. I hoped I could enter menus for each day, but to even list "fish", it has to be entered as a recipe first. EVERY menu item has to be entered as a recipe... milk, bread, cheese, etc. What a waste of time! I just want an app where I can plan weekly menus without having to put in recipes that I dont need or use. Dont buy this one unless you want to input a lot of information. It looked like a useful app, but its not.

Best available

I looked and looked for what I wanted in a menu planner and have bought a few but none do what I want. This one comes the closest. I had to enter my food, like the other reviews said, but only once, then it is always there and if you only put Chili it doesnt care. If you want you can enter whole recipes and it will do a breakdown nutritionally, which initially is a bit of work, but once done, never needs to be done again. I would request a barcode scanner, though as that would help tremendously. And the ability to copy and paste recipes would be nice too.

Disappointed

I am really disappointed. You can only enter one item per meal/snack.

best meal planner

ive been looking for an app for helping to plan meals for my family. this app does a great job, and i especially love the fact that it generates a nutrition label for each meal. cool idea, and havent seen that elsewhere. it can be a bit tedious creating recipes, since you need to search for each ingredient separately. i like that you can enter single foods instead... much easier. maybe consider adding a web interface to make creating recipes easier. overall excellent for what it is though.

Best around for the $$

Ive looked for an app that can do it all, as this helps plan a menu, doesnt limit you to recipes (you can modify and add your own) the list of ingredients is huge, and you can add items if its not on the list. The nutrition facts are great as it calculates it for your recipes it also lets you know how much your meal is. Ill add one more star when the web is up and pantry is added. The support has been great and responsive.

The best!

The best app of its kind easy to use everything at your fingertips buying this app is a must!

Ok but has potential

This is a good app idea but it needs some work. The biggest problem I have is that it keeps crashing when trying to enter a recipe and I have to reenter the title. It seems to remember what I entered but it was very frustrating. However like some of the other notes say once you enter your recipes they are always there. And I like the way it gets the grocery list from the recipes but you can also add grocery items. Another suggestion I have is to have categories for the grocery list that match the grocery store. For instance just having vegetable doesnt help. Is is canned or frozen or produce? Then I can make sure that I have everything from the produce section before I leave that area of the store. Would also be nice to have categories that dont pertain to food like health and beauty. That way the grocery list would be much more efficient. And I havent been able to see a feature that just lets you add something for a meal without a recipe. For instance I might just want to have a bag of frozen French fries or I might just want to make a note that we are ordering pizza that night. I realize that the reason for the recipes is to get the grocery list. But I still think a note would be a nice added feature. It would be five stars if it could do all that! One last thought you should consider having a website where users could enter recipes and share them that could be snyced to the app.
